PROCON to Develop & Test New Exterior Ventilated Tile Curtainwall System

PROCON has been retained by a several leading construction product manufacturers to engineer, develop, and test ventilated tile curtainwall systems. Ventilated tile curtainwall systems are a relatively new technology, which have been made commercially feasible by the development of new large-format porcelain tile and adhesive technologies. Licensed Architect and PROCON President Richard Goldberg AIA, CSI, and Senior Construction Technician James Harrington will lead and manage the project, which will include full-scale mock-up testing at Architectural Testing Inc. (ATI) in York, PA. ATI has the largest full-scale building construction mock-up facilities in the world, capable of testing building façade assemblies up to 60 feet high and 120 feet long. Testing will include structural wind load testing with Pratt & Whitney aircraft prop engines to simulate hurricane force winds.
