QATAR PETROLEUM COMPLEX

PROCON is providing highly specialized consulting services to SOM Architects and product manufacturer LATICRETE International for the design and construction of over 250,000 m2 direct adhered trencadis porcelain tile for the exterior wall assemblies at the Qatar Petroleum Complex in Qatar. This is one of the most extensive and sophisticated applications of this type of exterior wall cladding technology in the world, which will employ high shear strength and deformable polymer-modified cement adhesive mortars and fiber-reinforced waterproof membranes. PROCON performed state-of-the-art computer simulation of the tile assembly performance using finite element analysis. BROOKLYN CHILDREN'S MUSEUM - BROOKLYN, NY

PROCON principal Richard Goldberg AIA, CSI provided consulting services through former association with FORCON A/E Services for the design of the tile-clad exterior wall system for the Brooklyn Children's Museum in New York City, designed by the internationally renowned architect Rafael Viñoly Associates. The design concept features a 270 foot long undulating facade canopy clad with 50,000 square feet of yellow porcelain mosaic tile. The complex geometry of the facade skeletal structure was designed and constructed using state of the art Rhinoceros 3D computer modeling software.

This project was completed in 2008, and has won numerous awards, including a National Tile Contractors Assocication award.
